2014 BILGAVIA ESTATE SEMILLON
Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au , August 2019
92 POINTS “Incredibly youthful. Lemon sorbet, whispers of grass, a gentle waxiness and the slice of citrus. This is fresh and lengthy; at five years of age it’s not yet in its drinking prime, though it’s very close. Pristine semillon, still building.”
2016 BILGAVIA ESTATE SEMILLON
Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au , August 2019
91 POINTS “Again it has excellent line and length. These Bilgavia semillons are very good. Zesty and pure with a cool, even glide through the finish. There’s a trace of reduction to this release and it doesn’t hurt a jot; it helps. This is a slender release but it has a future.”
2017 BILGAVIA ESTATE SEMILLON
Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au , August 2019
92 POINTS “This is light, taut and lean but it reaches impressively out through the finish and prior history would suggest it will make it to a good place. In short, it’s a classic young semillon, all apple and citrus, the future firmly in its sights. Set and forget.”
2017 BILGAVIA ESTATE SHIRAZ
Campbell Mattinson, winefront.com.au , June 2019
90 POINTS “Coffeed oak, ripe fruit, lots of berries, pretty good. Coffee and earth flavours, mixed with black cherry-plum, work well here. Tannin has a bit of spread to it too, pulling the flavours along with it. It’s very Hunter, despite the splash of oak. The finish is almost drying, almost gamey. Medium-term it should perform well.”
